The migration from Joomla! 1.0 to 1.5 is handled for the most part
automatically in two stages. The first stage is the export migration
component for Joomla! 1.0 and the second stage is the import or
migration phase of the Joomla! 1.5 installer. The system is automated
due to a large number of changes that make data slightly incompatible
between Joomla! 1.0 and 1.5, such as parameters for menus and content
items. Whilst it is still possible to use a database dump to migrate,
this is not advised as there will be data loss. This page aims to
detail how to migrate from Joomla! 1.0 to Joomla! 1.5 with as much ease
as possible.

It is with great pride that the Joomla! community announces to the
world the immediate availability of Joomla! 1.5 Stable [Khepri]. As a community of contributors, we
have been through celebrations and tribulations. We have had fun, and
we have worked hard. We have learned from and helped one another. What
started two and a half years ago with a letter to the community has
grown into a great opportunity for both the Joomla! project and
community to benefit from these efforts and to consider our future.

The Joomla! Project today announced the immediate release of Joomla!
1.0.14 RC1 [Daybreak], the first and hopefully singular
release candidate for the 1.0.14 release cycle. Several security
issues have been discovered and addressed for this release. While the
required changes are not significant, the number of impacted files are
significant and we need your help. Before this release is declared
stable we need to ensure that it works as well for you as it does for
us.
Those of you that are able and willing please download a
copy of 1.0.14 RC1 and test it on a backup copy of your live site.
Make sure that the system works as good or better than Joomla! 1.0.13,
our current stable release. Any issues that you find please report in
the 1.0.x Bug Tracker. If you have questions on how to report a bug you should read the how-to and then if you still have questions please feel free to ask them in our 1.0.x Quality and Testing forum.
Since
this release fixes security vulnerabilities, once you have verified on
a backup of your site that everything works as expected we suggest that
you upgrade your live site to this release.

We're back after a rather short lived vacation. These momentous
holidays are great for using up all that well earned cash, and then
some - another reason the interest rates keep going up.
My suggestion,
stop with the interest rate hikes and cancel Christmas, Valentines Day,
Easter and all school holidays (children have developed their giftings
in spending when they are not at school). There is always the pressure
to perform under the premise that if you haven't delivered you are not
worthy.
Of course these suggestions just crash against the walls of
traditionalism and just the desire to splurge for a change instead of
always saving and being so jolly careful. So who really cares?
We hope
you had a great holiday, a special Christmas day with family and
friends and a memorable New Year.

It's good to be back in the office,
fingers are a little stiff but will most likely get into the swing of
things soon.

If
you are an NGO and you haven't heard of Joomla! or Open Source - then
wise up. Joomla! allows NGOs to raise their online profile easily and
cost effectively, giving them the power to manage their own kick ass
websites.
PandP
Content (www.pandpcontent.co.za)
in collaboration with Joomla SA! (www.joomla.org.za) recently
announced 2 workshops at reduced rates to assist with the growth and
development of the NGO IT sector – The END USER workshop
and the ADMINISTRATOR workshop.
